tales from a southern city

i've had a excellent long weekend. on thursday my sister & i went over to edinburgh to meet alan, have a few drinks, & attend the opening of nigel peake's 'maps' show & book launch at analogue. brilliant little eve: as expected, the show was ace, resulting in the purchase of 'maps' which i recommend you do too. a small while was spent chatting in analogue, before my sister & i went out for a few more rounds, resulting in missing the last train home which wasn't so bad, as it meant meeting up with an old friend who i haven't seen in forever, & he graciously lent us his couch. cheers much ric.

on saturday i made my way back to edinburgh for after school club, a night that - quite frankly - ought to be a compulsory event that all art institutions hold for their soon-to-graduate students. as a newly graduated artist i found the night ridiculously inspiring: hearing varied & talented designers, illustrators & collectives talk about how they approach their work, the projects they did as students & jobs they do as artists, the highs, the lows, & the important & fun stuff in between was awesome. a hundred thank-yous to lizzy (have borrowed the above photo from you) who organised the evening; it was quite perfect. the evening also allowed me to catch up with another old friend who was there too, which was great, & i also bumped into my best friend in a cafe even though she lives a street away from me here. insane.

back to work tomorrow, sad-face, but first: drawing.

I'm a little irritated at missing this as it ends so soon. I'll just need to compensate and buy the book I suppose!
